Little Buggy Guy

Yes, I know it's been a looooooooong time. I don't want to get into it right now, but I probably will eventually. In the meantime, I've been crafting again so I want to post while the urge is in me.
I've been working on a BIG quilt for a long time (intermittently) and it involves curved piecing. This is a big pain in my butt since I hate templates. It also results in a lot of weirdly shaped scraps. Well, I had all these half circle scraps and I thought I could make them into something fun and this little guy just appeared. The idea for this bug bean bag was totally inspired by these bunnies. I've only made the one and plan on making more, as I have lots of scraps. I think I can improve on him. He doesn't look all that buglike to me. And his legs look weird. But Simon loves him. He keeps saying, "Mommy made a little buggy guy for Simon." Now, I just have to come up with some kind of game to play with the bugs. You know, other than just throw-them-around-the-room.

The bug is very cute!!! I love its "legs."
I don't think you have to worry about whether he looks exactly bug-like or not. So many stuffed toys are approximations of what the real one looks like, instead of being exact copies of something real.
If you have other fabric scraps to get rid of, you could do one with folded pieces of fabric for "wings" or maybe make something that has a coccoon or a mama bug and baby bugs. Okay, I know that's not how "bug families" really work, but if you have larger semicircle scraps and smaller semicircle scraps, it could lend itself to bug families. :O)
Kate, I'm so glad I checked in, it's great to see you posting crafts again. (It's also good to know that your craft room is not destashed and organized and I'd love to see a post about that as well ;) )
If you make a few buggies, could you do some kind of bean bag toss or alternate version of tic-tac-toe with them? That's the first thing I thought of when I saw the bug. Brilliant idea Kate :)
er, not "Not destashed" but "now destashed" sorry for the typo
